Saline District Library

Saline District LibraryThe Saline District Library serves the nearly 30,000 residents of the Saline Area Schools district with a collection of over 95,000 items and programming for all ages.

In 2008, the library doubled in size to 33,000 sq. ft. The expansion added computer stations, a teen room, small study rooms, and a local history room including displays of the Meredith Bixby Marionettes.  The youth department doubled in size to accommodate the growing youth programs and collection.

The library participates in MeLCat, the statewide online interlibrary loan system, where patrons can place their own requests for books not owned by this library.

The Saline District Library is situated on 14 acres, including 7 acres of woods with a winding 1,100 linear sq. foot trail.

A new parking lot was completed in 2009 on the northwest side of the building.  This shared lot with Saline Middle School is the first “green” lot in the city; there are fewer underground storm water pipes and a variety of bioswale ponds that will slowly absorb and filter rainwater.
