    Job Description:
    The primary purpose of the Senior Tax Accountant is to manage the Tax team by preparing moderately complex to complex tax returns and tax research, placing the needs of the client first and providing exceptional service every single time. As this role is an integrated part of the wealth management process, it is expected that the Senior Tax Preparer work closely with the advisors and staff to prepare and execute the tax portion of financial plans. Secondary to this role is the management of the accounting workflow and coordinating the completion of payroll, reports and audits as needed.
    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • Greeting clients at the door and on the phone and ensuring client comfort while waiting
    • Develop and maintain schedule for payroll and monthly financial reports
    • Preparing the majority of Capstone's client tax returns, especially off-season tax returns, including individual, C-Corp, S-Corp, Partnerships, Trusts and Estates, and meeting with clients to explain and refine such returns
    • Create high quality customer interactions and experiences that instill confidence using deep customer empathy, and your deep knowledge and expertise in the field of tax preparation.
    • Completes tax forms in accordance with policies and in compliance with legislation and regulations
    • Review and representation of IRS and state correspondence regarding client letters and drafting responses
    • Review the work of less experienced associates and provide guidance/mentorship to assist them in developing technical skills
    • Maintain timely and accurate communication with team and clients to manage expectations, deadlines, and deliverables
    • Identify opportunities to introduce clients to the financial services team and other firm services
    • Ensure all billings are current
    • Draft and supervise the time and billing procedures for existing and new accounting and payroll work, also manage proposals for such work
    • Potentially training and/or delegating tasks to other support positions
    • Other duties as assigned
    • Must possess active credential: CPA (Certified Public Accountant), with strong tax preparation experience and extensive knowledge of tax laws
    • Must possess active PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number)
    • 3 or more years of recent experience preparing federal and state individual 1040 tax returns for clients/customers, using commercial tax preparation software
    • Use of MS Office Suite, including MS Word, Excel
    • Proficiency with Quickbooks
    • Familiarity with most recent Tax Cuts and Jobs Act changes and impact
    • Excellent customer service
