The Chamber Addressing Diversity in Saline

SALINE, MI. – The Saline Area Chamber of Commerce is a business-driven organization guided by its business members’ interests and the goal of pursuing local economic development. As a Chamber of Commerce we are proud to promote, encourage, and welcome a diverse business community, as is evidenced by the numerous international companies located here that do business on a global scale.

We, as a leadership group in the greater Saline area, feel it necessary to respond to the recent events that have put the City of Saline and the Saline Area School District in the news, both locally and nationally. Unfortunately, this negative publicity centered on the issues of diversity, inclusion, and racism. Our Chamber of Commerce will continue to advocate for a community that is welcoming and open to all. Despite recent events, the Saline area remains a great place to live and do business. Three times this community has been named to the CNN/Money Magazine list of the “Top 100 Communities to Live and Do Business.”

Like communities across our nation, there are problems and concerns that need to be faced head-on when it comes to diversity, racism, and any hateful action that maligns and/or marginalizes anyone because of their race, color, sexual orientation, or religion. That is why we, as a Chamber of Commerce, support our elected officials, our Saline Area Schools, its student body, and above all the residents of the Saline area who have come forward to seek positive solutions on this important issue.

As a Chamber of Commerce, we will continue to promote, support, and work with the community as they address these issues so that Saline will be viewed once again as a welcoming community for all.
